Longing for Summer

Written by , Posted in Everything Else

The kids and I are all longing for summer.

While our summer ushers in unfathomably hot and humid days, it also comes with REGULAR sunshine, swimming, sleeping in, swimming, camps, swimming, vacations, and…SWIMMING!

Yesterday it rained and rained. I preferred to think of the raindrops as sympathy tears for the hours and hours of tax related paperwork I mucked through. The kids, on the other hand, looked at the rain as an opportunity to get wet…

…and perhaps a “little” dirty.

After listening to squeals and giggling, I could sit no longer. I grabbed my crutch, camera, and zoom lens and headed for the vantage point of the garage to capture their joy in a few photos.

The rain seemed to roll over our home in evenly spread waves of heavy downpour to light sprinkles. One minute I could barely see the kids up the street through the grey sheets of rain, and the next minute everything seemed fresh and vibrant.

As you can see, everything is coming up green here in the Piney Woods of Texas, including the neighbor’s fence.

Summer cannot come quickly enough.

Can it Meredith?
